I an trying to establish whether and when the ISO 9000 standards are being revised. Is it the case that ISO 9004 is always revised at the same time as ISO 9001? Or could we be looking at totally different dates?

It would seem that the 9000, 9001 and 9004 are a coordinated release (The ANSI/ASQ approval dates are the same for all 3 standards - December 13, 2000). Since they are developed by the same technical committee (ISO/TC 176), and are directly related to each other, this would make sense. ISO standards go into review/revision on a six year schedule (next revision should be 2006).

Does anyone have any idea whether this approximate schedule is still on course? When we can expect the next release of these standards?

Thanks very much for any input.

Dear Readers:

Again a reply to this post would seem outdated, but maybe reading this post itself may help many professionals.

The most closest date, rather year is 2008 or 2009, which is what I had read a few months back on the ISO website.

There had been some minor modifications in the 9001 standards, but that's that and it was not given a revision number!

For the latest updates, its best to keep in touch with the following websites:
